Missiles thrown at cars from Bewdley bypass bridge

Police patrols have been increased on a bypass in Worcestershire after missiles were thrown from a bridge.

A car being driven on the A456 Bewdley bypass was hit by a water bomb thrown from the Heightington Road bridge at 18:00 BST on Wednesday.

It follows an incident on 11 September when a brick was thrown from the bridge at a car, shattering its windscreen.

Sgt Chris Aimes said: "A moment's distraction for a driver could easily result in injury or even loss of life.

"This type of incident tends to be carried out by children or teenagers and I would appeal to parents to talk to young people about the dangers of throwing bricks, stones, water bombs or any other missiles at vehicles."
