Three people have appeared in court following the shooting of a suspected burglar in Worcestershire.

A man was found with gunshot injuries in Leigh Sinton on Wednesday after a burglary was reported 12 miles away in Whitbourne, Herefordshire.

Two men and a woman have been charged over the incident and appeared before Hereford magistrates earlier.

The proceedings followed claims from the police that they had found evidence of a cannabis farm at the house.

Malcolm White, 62, of Stocking Gobetts, Whitbourne, was charged with the production of cannabis and illegal possession of a firearm.

Josephine Merrick, 57, Stocks Lane, Leigh Sinton, was charged with the production of cannabis and bailed until 21 November.

Darren Randall, 24, of Yardley Fields Road, Birmingham, was charged with three counts of possessing ammunition for a firearm without a certificate and possessing ammunition for a firearm when prohibited to do so for five years.

He was also charged with production of a class B controlled drug and the attempted aggravated burglary of a dwelling.

Both Mr White and Mr Randall were remanded into custody.

Mr White will next appear at Worcester Crown Court on 17 October and Mr Randall will next appear on 10 January 2012.

A man in his 20s, who was arrested in the West Midlands area on Thursday on suspicion of burglary, has been released on police bail.

The injured man is in a serious condition in hospital, West Mercia Police said.
