Car falls down Bromsgrove railway embankment

A car has plunged down a railway embankment in Worcestershire.

The driver of a silver Ford Focus lost control after crossing a railway bridge near the Bowling Green Inn, in Shaw Lane, Bromsgrove, at about 15:30 BST.

It went over the fence and barriers and rolled 15m down the embankment, coming to rest by the track.

The driver, a man in his mid-20s from the Birmingham area, had been alone in the car and was not injured, West Mercia Police said.

One line of the track was reopened by Network Rail at 16:45 BST.

British Transport Police said services travelling between Birmingham and the South West of England were likely to have been affected.
