Gritters ready for snow in Herefordshire and Worcestershire

Councils are preparing to deal with the effects of snow predicted to fall in Herefordshire and Worcestershire over the next 24 hours.

The Met Office said it is not certain where the heaviest snow will fall in central England, but accumulations of up to 5cm (2in) are likely.

Worcestershire County Council will publish details of any school closures on its website.

School closures in Herefordshire will be listed on the council website.

Worcestershire County Council has said it will have 31 gritters working but has warned that conditions may be "challenging" for drivers.

Councillor John Smith said: "Gritting roads has never been, or will never be, a miracle fix so it's vital that everyone drives safely, especially during Friday's busy period when journeys to work, school and meetings are happening."

Drivers in Hereforshire can use the council's Gritter Twitter to find out which roads have been treated.
