A memorial match has been staged in Hereford for a teenage footballer who was killed when he was hit by a car

Sixteen-year-old Marcus Powell died in October while he was jogging between Clehonger and Kingstone.

He had signed for Cheltenham Town's junior side and was hoping for a career as a professional footballer.

The match at Hereford United's Edgar Street ground was between his former schools, Kingstone High School and the Hereford Academy.

His family were at the game, along with students and staff from both schools.

Sam Goodchild, of Kingstone High School, said on the Hereford Utd website: "Marcus' death left many pupils from both schools devastated.

"Due to the connection Marcus held with both schools and his love of football, it was felt that it would be a fitting tribute to set up a Marcus Powell Memorial Cup between the two schools."
