Wychavon councillor Alan Fisher suspended
A councillor in Worcestershire has been suspended for six months for going through the personal belongings of staff at a civic event.
Wychavon District Council found Alan Fisher had breached their code of conduct.
Council managing director Jack Hegarty said: "We have never suspended a sitting councillor before."
Mr Fisher declined the chance to appear before the council hearing for health reasons.
The council said the incident happened at an evening event held at Pershore Civic Centre in May 2011.
The standards committee heard Mr Fisher was discovered in the upper floor of the building where he was interfering with personal property of some staff members.
Mr Fisher said: "The whole thing from start to finish has been a nightmare.
"I've had no support from the council whatsoever and I'm taking legal advice".
