Worcester History Centre closes ahead of move to The Hive

A Worcestershire archives library has closed as it prepares to move into a new building.

The History Centre on Trinity Street, Worcester, holds many of the county's most important documents.

It is due to move into a new £60m building next to the University of Worcester's campus in July.

Named The Hive, the new building will house the city's library and bring all the county archives together for the first time.

Head of the History Centre Paul Hudson said moving thousands of documents would be a big task.

He added that despite the inconvenience of being closed for three months people who used the centre would appreciate the move in the long term.

"The records will all be in one place," Mr Hudson said.

"We don't have to store any of our archives off-site because we'd outgrown our storage space a number of years ago."
