London 2012: Worcester Olympic torch event tickets released

Tickets for the evening celebration of the Olympic torch relay being in Worcester have been released.

A ballot was held to decide who would get tickets to the event being held at Worcestershire County Cricket Club in New Road on 24 May.

The celebration will include music, light shows and a celebration cauldron being lit by the Olympic torch.

The tickets can be collected from the tourist information centre in Guildhall in Worcester High Street.

Georgia Smith, one of the organisers, said: "There are less than four weeks to go to the big night so, if you were successful in the ballot for tickets, now is the time to come along to the Guildhall.

"It is going to be a wonderful night and we already have a waiting list for spare tickets."

The Olympic torch arrives in Worcester on 24 May and will be staying overnight.

The event at the cricket club will include the history of the city being recreated by a 1,000-strong community choir.
