Injured Kidderminster Harriers' player discharged after tests

The Kidderminster Harriers' player airlifted from the pitch at the end of Saturday's game against Mansfield Town has been discharged from hospital.

The club's website said Anthony Malbon, 20, had undergone tests and a scan that had "come back with the all clear".

The striker underwent nine minutes of treatment before being stretchered off. The air ambulance took him to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

He will now spend time convalescing at home, a club spokesman added.

Fans had to leave the Aggborough ground to allow the helicopter to pick up the striker, during the Blue Square Premier League game.

It prompted the referee to blow the final whistle during injury time, leaving the Harriers with a 3-0 defeat.

Kidderminster Harriers needed to win the game to keep alive any hopes of reaching the play-offs in the league.

Their defeat means they finish in sixth place for the second season running.
