Train hits object on Worcestershire railway line

A train has hit an object on the rail line between Worcester and Hereford.

British Transport Police (BTP) said the 15:22 First Great Western service from Great Malvern to London Paddington struck the object at 15:41 BST near Sling Lane, Malvern.

The train was damaged, but did not derail.

First Great Western said no-one on board the train was hurt.

The object has now been removed.

A BTP spokesman said: "An investigation is under way to discover how the object came to be on the railway line and whether it had been placed there deliberately."
