Norton packaging plant plan brings hope of new jobs

Plans for a German packaging firm to build a new plant in Worcestershire could lead to the creation of up to 200 jobs, according to the county council.

Spies Lunststoffe, which makes packaging for brands including Mars and Haagen Dazs, wants to build a plant at Norton just outside Worcester.

The application will be considered by Wychavon District Council, who are the planning authority, in October.

If plans are approved, building work could start in 2013.

Worcestershire County Council said it has been talking to the firm about moving to the area since 2011.
