Worcestershire homeless projects win £200k grant

Projects supporting homeless people in Worcestershire have been awarded £200,000 to help cut rough sleeping.

The funding from national charity Homeless Link is expected to support the Worcestershire Homelessness Intervention Team.

Malvern District Council said the money would be used to employ support workers across the county and help find temporary accommodation.

It will also be used to fund the work of Worcester's St Paul's Hostel.

St Paul's Chief Executive Chris Ashcroft said the money would help it expand its role across the county.

"We hope that we will have the service in place to coincide with the opening of the Night Assessment Centre in Worcester at the end of November so we can get people off the streets quickly and begin working with them," he said.
