A Worcestershire council has said it is 'powerless' to move travellers who have set up camp on a car park.

About 50 caravans moved onto the Riverside car park in Stourport-on-Severn on Friday.

Wyre Forest District Council said it could not start legal action to force the travellers to move until the courts re-opened on Tuesday.

Local businesses have complained to the council that their Easter trade has been affected.

Cafe owner Brian Murdoch said: "Easter is one of our main weekends of the year and we've spent thousands advertising the town as a place to come.

"But people don't want to come and park their cars among the travellers, it's intimidating."

The BBC approached the travellers but they were unavailable for comment.
