More time for Kidderminster attempted murder police

Detectives have been given more time to question three men over the attempted murder of two police officers.

They were injured when a car was driven into a police van near Stoney Lane, Kidderminster on Tuesday. One officer was pinned between the vehicles.

Three men from Wolverhampton were arrested, suspected of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit robbery.

On Wednesday, magistrates in Kidderminster granted police an extra 36 hours to question the men.

The men are all in their 20s, West Mercia Police said.

The police said the incident happened at about 09:30 BST, while the two officers were investigating a report of three men acting suspiciously, near the Tesco Express in Stourbridge Road.

One officer suffered a chipped kneecap, the other had cuts and bruises.

Police said the white Audi which was used in the incident had previously been stolen and they were trying to trace any previous sightings.
