Hereford United fans have criticised a decision to switch the venue of a pre-season friendly at late notice.

The Bulls were set to play Eagley FC, based near Bolton, at the Lancashire club's ground with a 15:00 kick-off.

But the club said the fixture had to be moved to an undisclosed location with a kick-off time of 13:30 BST, due to "last-minute safety concerns".

Ruth Walkden, of the Northern Bulls supporters group, said fans who made the 150-mile trip had been "let down".

Ms Walkden, a Hereford supporter who lives in Lancashire, said it took her three-and-a-half hours to travel to home games.

"Anyone who'd been travelling up to watch the match would have been half way there when they changed it," she said.

In a statement on its website the club said it was "very happy with the performance" of the team during Saturday's match.

The result of the game has not been announced.

Hereford United Supporters' Trust recently voted to boycott home games and only attend away fixtures after the club was expelled from the Football Conference.
