Herefordshire streetlight LED-switch 'will save £13m'

Fitting lights designed to last 24 years to street lamps in Herefordshire will save £13.3m over the next 20 years, the council has said.

Herefordshire Council said the LED lighting will be installed over the next year, at a cost of £5.5m.

It has already spent about £1.5m converting 30% of its streetlights.

As well as reducing running costs, the long lifespan of the LED lights will cut maintenance bills, the council said.
