Death of woman in Evesham prompts murder arrest

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a woman at a house in Worcestershire.

Police and paramedics were alerted to an injured woman in cardiac arrest at a property in Bewdley Street, Evesham, shortly before 06:00 BST.

But the 53-year-old, who has not been named, was confirmed dead at the scene after paramedics arrived.

West Mercia Police said a 51-year-old man was arrested and is in custody. The house has been cordoned off.

Formal identification of the victim is yet to take place and a post-mortem examination will be held in due course, the spokesman said.
