Two pedestrians have been killed in Worcestershire by a motorist who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The man and woman, believed to be in their 40s, were hit at Longton Hill, Evesham, at about 21:40 BST on Sunday.

"Sadly both were pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed," a police spokesman said.

The 58-year-old driver was arrested and released on police bail until 16 July, he added.

West Mercia Police have urged anyone who saw the collision, which involved a blue Ford Focus, or anyone who has information to come forward.
