M62 motorway is closed after fatal accident
One man has died and another suffered serious injuries following a crash in freezing conditions that closed the M62 for more than eight hours.
The two men were in a car which was in collision with a lorry on the motorway in East Yorkshire on Friday morning.
A Humberside Police spokesman said the driver of the truck was arrested and taken into custody.
The crash happened on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 35 and 36, near Goole, just before 1200 GMT.
Acting Supt Darren Downs said: "The M62 will be closed from junction 35 for some time while police investigate the circumstances of the collision.
"This incident is expected to cause disruption as people are making their way home.
"Diversions have been put in place and have been gritted by East Riding Council to ensure they are clear of snow."
