Two men have been jailed for a "despicable" attack in Grimsby which left a 72-year-old man badly injured.

Eddie Hindle was pushed to the ground by Kristian Whyte and Jamie Ford shortly after parking his mobility scooter near his home last July.

The pair tried to steal his wallet and watch, leaving him with broken wrists and ribs.

Whyte, 27, of Castle Street, was jailed for eight years. Ford, of Patrick Street, received a six year jail term.

Both men were sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court on Friday after being convicted of robbery.

Ford had admitted the charge and Whyte was convicted after a trial.

Humberside Police had earlier described the attack on Mr Hindle as "despicable" and said the men had showed no remorse for their actions.
