Hull arson: Trapped Danielle Hewson speaks after rescue

A woman has spoken of her ordeal after her Hull home was targeted by arsonists in the early hours.

Danielle Hewson, 21, said she was "scared" of returning to her flat after a sofa was set alight outside the house on Axminster Close.

She and her partner were trapped until fire crews came to their aid on Sunday morning.

Humberside Police said the doorway was blocked with the sofa before "an unknown offender" set it alight.

Firefighters had to force their way into the property, from which another man was also rescued, just after 0100 BST.

'Really scary'

Paramedics gave treatment at the scene, although none of the victims needed hospital treatment.

However, Ms Hewson said: "I can't get any sleep because of it, I'm hardly eating.

"If someone has set it alight to get at us, they can always do it again. So it's just scary really."

She and her partner were alerted to the fire by smoke detectors.

After calling the emergency services, staff remained on the line until fire crews arrived.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Humberside Police.
