Six homes evacuated in Bransholme arson attack
A fire on a Hull council estate, which led to six properties being evacuated, is being treated as arson.
Firefighters were called to Blisland Close in Bransholme, at about 0020 BST, after a bin shed was set alight and the fire spread to neighbouring houses.
Humberside Police said no-one was hurt during the incident but residents had been temporarily re-homed.
Councillor Phil Webster said some residents were not insured.
Mr Webster said: "They are absolutely distraught, all you can do is feel for them.
"Only 40% of the people on this row are actually insured, the other people have lost everything.
"They've got to be absolutely devastated. They [have] absolutely nothing in the world left."
Police said they were looking at CCTV of the area and were carrying out house-to-house inquiries.
The fire service said the house where the fire started was fitted with a working smoke alarm, which alerted the family.
