Emergency fire calls 'not affected by building works'

Essential refurbishment work to take place at Hornsea Fire Station will not affect emergency call outs, Humberside Fire and Rescue has said.

The work is to begin on Monday and is due to take about 16 weeks.

There will be an increase in large vehicle movements during the works and also "noisy" building operations.

The service has apologised for any inconvenience the work may cause to local residents.

Pete Baron, from the service, said: "The work is needed to modernise the station and will include improvements to the energy efficiency as well as bringing other aspects of the station up to date.

"I hope local residents understand the importance of this work and would like to reassure them that emergency cover will not be affected.

"I apologise for any inconvenience that the short period of disruption may cause."
