Bridlington fair log flume rescue footage released

Footage has been released showing how a woman was rescued after she fell from a fairground ride in Bridlington.

Ann Smallwood, 58, from South Yorkshire, was thrown from a log flume ride along with her four-year-old grandniece in August.

She suffered severe leg injuries after being trapped in the ride.

Mrs Smallwood was taken by air ambulance to Hull Royal Infirmary, despite a fear of flying in a helicopter.

Rescuers from Humberside Police and the Bridlington Coastguard worked to clear enough space in the heavy crowd for the air ambulance helicopter to land.

Witnesses at the time described seeing the ride jam on its rails then restart, "flipping" them from the carriage.

The rescue is being shown on the BBC's Helicopter Heroes programme on Monday.
