Tata Steel to invest £1.5m in Scunthorpe businesses

A steel giant which is shedding 1,200 jobs at its Scunthorpe plant has announced a £1.5m investment plan to help local businesses.

Tata Steel said the money was aimed at boosting regeneration and economic growth in North Lincolnshire.

UK Steel Enterprise (UKSE), a subsidiary of Tata, said the investment would support businesses with the capacity to grow and recruit workers.

Unions have said the job losses would have a big impact on local communities.
