Police asked motorists to take care while driving home after a day of high winds that brought down trees, walls and street lights in East Yorkshire.

Humberside Police said trees had been blocking roads or causing obstructions in Hull, Bridlington, Driffield, Snaith and Grimsby in North East Lincolnshire.

A vehicle hit a large branch in the road in Beverley and a brick wall collapsed in Healing, near Grimsby, blocking a pavement.

No casualties were reported.

Police said about 19 incidents had been reported but all had now been cleared.

A spokesman from the force said: "Motorists should take care on their commute."

The Humber Bridge and the M62 over the Ouse Bridge, near Howden, were both closed to high-sided vehicles but are operating normally.
