M62 motorway reopens in East Yorkshire after fatal crash

The westbound carriageway of the M62 in East Yorkshire has reopened following a car crash which killed a man.

Humberside Police said a car had left the road and gone down an embankment. The vehicle was extensively damaged and the driver died at the scene.

The incident happened between junctions 37 and 38 near Howden at about 1:00 GMT.

The carriageway was closed for eight hours to enable accident investigation officers to examine the scene.

Earlier, the eastbound carriageway near junction 37 was also closed after a lorry overturned shedding its load of logs.
