Flood alert for River Foulness and Market Weighton canal

A flood alert from the Environment Agency is in force for a part of East Yorkshire.

Officials at the agency said there was heavy rain in the catchment area of the River Foulness, the Market Weighton Canal and its tributaries.

The agency said that the level of the water at Welham Bridge was 1.45m above its usual measure.

Levels in the area were expected to remain high overnight with more rain expected and into Tuesday morning.
