The police headquarters building in Hull will close to the public on Sunday evening as officers move to a new facility.

The Queens Gardens building is being replaced by a new station on Osborne Street and a £32m divisional headquarters on the city's outskirts.

Some operational staff will continue to use the building until it is sold.

Ch Insp Rich Kirven said the new site would provide "facilities fit for modern policing purposes".

He added: "I will miss the hustle and bustle of Queens Gardens, but we have to move with the times and invest in estates, our staff and our local community, to deliver top quality policing in Hull."
