Humberside police make three arrests over 'white powder' scare

Three people hospitalised after taking an unidentified white powder have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences.

The 28-year-old man and two women aged 23 and 24 were among five admitted to Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, in Grimsby, Humberside Police said.

All five were said to have suffered serious side effects after taking the substance on Sunday.

Police were called to an address in Wentworth Road, Grimsby, at around 16:35 BST on 21 April.

Two men aged 31 and 33 are still in hospital. Their condition is said to be improving.

A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: "It is not yet known just what the five people had taken so would not be right to speculate at this time, however we are awaiting the results of toxicology tests which should help to shed some light on just what was in the white powder which caused such serious health problems."

The three people arrested were interviewed in connection with the investigation and released on bail after being discharged from hospital.
