Age UK looks for temporary Hull home

A charity has announced plans to set up a temporary drop-in centre for elderly people in Hull as its permanent base has been flooded.

Age UK was forced to close the restaurant and shop at its Healthy Living Centre, in Porter Street, after last week's storm surge.

The charity said it was looking for a city centre premises to operate from.

Pam Davies, from the organisation, said: "We've a lot of people in the city who are on their own."

She added: "Perhaps when they come in here it is the only point of contact they have with somebody.

"That's why we are quite keen to see if we can set something up in the city centre as a point of contact."
