Koen Allwood: Man charged over Barton boy's crash death

A man has been charged over the death of 15-year-old Koen Allwood who was hit by a car in Barton, North Lincolnshire.

The teenager and a 15-year-old girl were struck by the vehicle near the Humber Bridge in November.

Damian Benson, 23, of High Street, Barton, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing injury by dangerous driving, according to Humberside Police.

He will appear at North Lincolnshire Magistrates' Court on 29 April.

The girl, who was walking with Koen, was seriously injured in the incident.

More than 150 fellow pupils of Baysgarth School attended the teenager's funeral.

Police said Mr Benson has also been charged with two counts of use of a motor vehicle with a cut in the tyre fabric and using a motor vehicle with defective brakes.

Another 23-year-old man who was arrested was released without charge.
