Scunthorpe pregnant woman stabbing suspect charged

A man is due to appear in court charged with attempted murder after a pregnant woman was stabbed.

The woman was seven months pregnant when she was attacked in Belton, North Lincolnshire, on Wednesday.

She was taken to Scunthorpe General Hospital where her baby girl was delivered. Police said both mother and baby were in a stable condition.

Nicholas Leaning, 28, of Torrington Road, Scunthorpe, has also been charged with attempted child destruction.

He remains in custody and is due to appear before Scunthorpe Magistrates' Court later.
