A full police funeral is to be held for an officer killed after a crash on patrol, said Humberside Police.

PC Russ Wylie, 28, was in a collision with a car on 13 April, on the B1362 Daisy Hill Road, in Burstwick, East Yorkshire.

He died the next day at Hull Royal Infirmary. PC Wylie, a roads policing officer, worked at the force's base in Melton.

His funeral is to be held on Wednesday 29 April at a crematorium near Hull.

'Respected by many'

A statement from his parents and fiancée said: "The loss we feel for this warm and caring man is immeasurable.

"He was full of so many hopes and dreams for the future that the thought of life without him is unbearable.

"Since Russ died we have found out so much more about him, how respected he was by many and how much people thought of him."

The family thanked the Yorkshire Air Ambulance staff for their efforts on the day of the crash and said donations would be sent to the charity.

The funeral cortege is to start from Tetney, near Grimsby and is to pause at Grimsby Police Station to allow officers and staff to pay their respects.
