An ice cream van driver has been robbed by a gang who claimed to have run out of fuel, prompting a police warning to motorists in North Lincolnshire.

The van driver was stopped on Doncaster Road in Scunthorpe and one of the gang offered him a ring for £10 to raise money for fuel.

A short time later he was boxed in two vehicles, restrained and cash was taken from the till of his van.

Police have issued a CCTV image of one of the men.

The attack, which took place on 23 April, is being linked to two other incidents where motorists were flagged down in the area on the same day.
