Crews tackle large fire at corn field in Bean

Fire crews in Kent have been tackling a large fire in a corn field.

They were called to a "well-developed" fire in a 40-acre field of standing corn in Shellbank Lane, Bean, just before 1530 BST.

About 50 firefighters fought the blaze using 10 fire appliances, including four from London Fire Brigade, and a water unit.

There were no reports of any injuries and no threat to any properties. The fire was extinguished by 1900 BST.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
