Appeal follows 'callous' Rochester scooter theft

Thieves who stole a 67-year-old woman's mobility scooter after she had returned from a shopping trip have been branded "callous" by police.

Kent Police said the burgundy-coloured vehicle was taken from garages at the rear of Leybourne Road, Rochester, on Monday between 1500 BST and 1600 BST.

The owner uses the scooter, worth about £1,000, to get to the shops and to visit her local church.

Officers have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Pc Debbie Trowell said, 'This is a particularly callous theft, which has caused great inconvenience to the scooter's owner."
