Scheme to strengthen water main in Kent
A £320,000 scheme to reinforce a water main in east Kent is under way.
South East Water said the pipe-laying work in Maypole Road, Maypole, would be completed by mid-April next year.
The water main transfers eight million litres of water a day but once work is complete it will be able to transfer up to 13.6 million litres a day.
Construction will begin at the junction of Maypole Road and Church Road, and end at the company's pumping station.
Graham Webb, South East Water delivery manager, said traffic would be diverted along Ford Hill, Heart in Hand Road, A299 Thanet Way, A291, A28, Babs Oak Road and Hoath Road.
