Residents in Gillingham without power for days

Several homes in north Kent were left without power for almost three days following an electrical fault.

The outage, which initially affected 2,820 customers in Gillingham, started on Friday. Most customers were reconnected within four hours.

UK Power Networks said supplies were restored to the remaining properties in Shakespeare Road at about 1225 GMT on Sunday.

Engineers reconnected homes in St John's Road at about 1600 GMT.

A spokeswoman for UK Power Networks apologised for the inconvenience the power cut had caused.
