Pedestrian killed in M20 crash in Kent

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was killed in a motorway crash.

The coastbound M20 was closed south of Ashford, Kent, after the incident, which happened near junction 10 on Sunday evening.

All three lanes of the coastbound carriageway were shut between junctions 10 and 11 while forensic experts investigated the crash.

No further information was released about the person who died.

Ch Insp Darren Mullins, from Kent Police, said: "Investigations are continuing as to the circumstances of the collision and we ask anyone who was driving along the M20 and who may have information to contact us."

Traffic was being diverted along the A20, but police said the road closure could last several hours and urged drivers to take different routes.

The carriageway remained closed overnight, and reopened just before 0700 GMT on Monday.
