Fire crews tackle Kent College School theatre blaze

Firefighters have been tackling a blaze in a theatre at a private school in Kent.

Four crews were called to the two-storey building at Kent College Senior School, Old Church Road, Pembury, at about 0940 GMT on Tuesday.

Firefighters, including two with breathing apparatus, used jets and an aerial ladder to extinguish the blaze which started on the first floor.

No-one was injured and the school remained open throughout.

A spokeswoman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said crews were now damping down hot spots and an investigation would be carried out into the cause of the blaze.

Kent College Prep School said it was "very, very grateful for the prompt actions" of the fire crews.
