Kent fire crews warning for Broomhill Park arsonists

Firefighters have warned "it is only a matter of time" before someone is seriously hurt after attending a spate of fires in a Kent park.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said they had been called to five fires in Broomhill Park, Strood, in four weeks.

Firefighter Gary Stanford said the fires were started deliberately in undergrowth or piles of rubbish.

He said: "Everyone needs to be very clear that arson is a crime and certainly not harmless fun."

A spokesman for the service said: "It is only a matter of time before the dry conditions mean a blaze burns out of control and someone is seriously hurt."
