Officer injured by car in Broadstairs

A Kent Police officer was injured when he was hit by a car after he requested the driver to stop in Broadstairs.

The officer suspected the driver was using a mobile phone at 1800 BST on Saturday in the high street.

As the car pulled over the officer was hit, causing bruising and grazing to his leg and arm.

The 47-year-old man from Romford, Essex was arrested for assault and driving offences and released on bail until 5 July.

The officer was able to remain on duty after the incident.
