North West Kent College considers axing 60 jobs
Up to 60 jobs are at risk of being axed at a college in Kent which is seeking to save £3m by 2014.
North West Kent College has campuses in Gravesend and Dartford, and expects most of the losses to come from support roles rather than teaching posts.
It said the cuts were as a result of the latest government settlement, which would affect the rate of funding it receives per student.
A three-month consultation with staff and unions is under way.
The college added that it had spent the last 12 months identifying areas of natural wastage and had a non-replacement strategy in place to minimise any potential redundancies as a result.
