Ashford arrest after Kilndown Close street disturbance

A man has been arrested and an air weapon has been recovered after a disturbance in a Kent street.

Police were called to the incident in Kilndown Close, Ashford, where an argument had broken out late on Sunday.

Officers said about 20 people had gathered in the road by about 2330 BST.

Firearms officers were sent to the scene and a helicopter was scrambled after a report that a firearm had been discharged, police said.

Kent Police said a 24-year-old Ashford man was arrested and was being held in custody while investigations continued on Monday.

An air weapon was recovered from a garden in the road, officers said.

Several residents alerted the emergency services after hearing the incident outside.
