Driver held after man critically hurt in Walmer crash

A man has been arrested after a 25-year-old man was critically injured when he was hit by a van in Kent.

Kent Police said the man from Deal was struck by a Suzuki outside Walmer Castle at about 20:20 BST on Tuesday.

He was initially taken to the Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Hospital in Margate before being transferred to a hospital in London.

A 26-year-old from Herne Bay was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

A spokesman for Kent Police said the victim's condition was "critical".
