Knole Academy: Designers to start work on new building

Designers are to start work on a new £18m academy building in Sevenoaks.

A feasibility study recommended that the Knole Academy be redeveloped on the site of Bradboure School after it merged with Wildernesse in 2010.

The scheme was approved by Partnership for Schools, the government body in charge of school building work.

When the designs are complete, Kent County Council will hold a public consultation before a planning application is submitted in the autumn.

The proposed development would see a mixture of new buildings, refurbishment of the existing school and new ICT facilities and equipment.

The former Wildernesse School site will be used until the proposed construction work is completed in late 2013/early 2014.
