Greenhithe crash death: Man arrested

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a pedestrian was killed when she was struck by a van.

The woman, aged 51 and from Dartford, suffered fatal injuries in the incident in Cobham Terrace, Greenhithe, on Wednesday.

Kent Police said she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man from Essex, who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, he has been released on bail.

PC Glen Braidwood said: "Initial enquiries suggest a woman pedestrian was in collision with a Ford Transit flatbed, which was reversing along the road, near a fast food restaurant.

"Tragically the woman, who sustained head injuries, died at the scene.

"We would like to speak with anyone that may have seen the collision, or events leading up to the incident, as they could help us with our investigation."
