Percy Arms pub in Chilworth badly damaged in fire

More than 30 firefighters spent nearly three hours tackling a fire that caused serious damage to a pub in Surrey.

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service were called to the Percy Arms, Dorking Road, Chilworth, near Guildford, at about 03:20 BST.

Six fire crews, including firefighters using an aerial platform, fought the flames at the height of the blaze.

The fire, which is believed to have started in a bedroom, caused major damage to the roof and first floor.

Surrey Fire Rescue Service said firefighters were now damping down and checking for hotspots.

An investigation has been started into the cause of the blaze.
