Armed robbers target Cobham cash machine

Armed robbers wielding a baseball bat and a Samurai sword have attacked two security guards at a cash machine.

Kent Police said a substantial amount of cash was stolen in the robbery at a service station on the London-bound A2 at Cobham on Friday.

The robbers were thought to have used two vehicles which were later found abandoned in Gravesend and Hawley.

Officers said that one of the guards suffered bruising and the other was shocked but had no visible injury.

Det Insp Ian Dampier said the suspects initially drove a Mercedes van which they abandoned in Cobsdene, Gravesend.

The pair got into an Audi RS4 Quattro which was later found in Alfred Road, Hawley, near Dartford.

Both vehicles are being examined by forensic experts. Anyone with information is asked to contact the force.
